This significant counter terrorist unithas never failed to accomplish a single mission for the past 20 yearsoperating approximately 560different strategic assignments,suppressing 550 terrorists and rescuing 350 hostagessuccessfully. The School bus rescue operation atDjibouti in 1976, the penetration of the sacred groundsof Mecca held by the Islamic people for a week, andthe suppression of the hijacker at Orly Airport in Parisin 1983 are a few significant examples of theiraccomplishments. The most acclaimed rescue missionhappened in 1994 when an Air France aircraft washijacked. Four Islamic terrorists had taken over adomestic aircraft at the Houari Boumedienne Airport inAlgeria and forcefully landed it onto the MarceauMarinan Airport embracing the French governmentinto their own hands. Prime Minister Willy Brandtordered Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Minister of InternalAffairs to create a specific division. However, with theongoing pessimistic views of the world renownedSS unit of the Nazi Empire convinced them not togenerate a league of military personnel but theFederal Border Police instead. This unit of FederalBorder Police Officers is called the Grenzchutzgruppe(GSG-9) and is composed of 88 members. It gainedits trust by successfully freeing 91 passengers of theMogadishu flight terrorism at Lufthansa. GSG-9 wasalso requested to assist approximately 40 differentcountries such as Singapore and Saudi Arabia.It is also known that even the SAS has requestedassistance from the GSG-9 for the Iran embassyincident in Britain.

These accomplishments have taken theunit to international level not to mention the AmericanDelta Force was also built upon its assistance.Today, the SAS is in a joint alliance with the DeltaForce, GSG-9, and other western nations, spreadingits counter terrorism methods and techniques forfurther improvement with capital investment in high end weaponry and armory devices.
